PTS provided topographic survey, project scoping assistance, civil engineering, and construction inspection services for the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) Becharof Street, Rakof to Chirikof Water Rehabilitation project.
Construction for this project consisted of decommissioning approximately 875-LF of water main and installing approximately 1,836-LF of new PVC water main. Additional work included replacing 9 water service key boxes and 1 fire hydrant. When completed in the fall of 2020, these improvements created water supply redundancy and improved water supply volume resulting in more reliable water service in the Bancroft Subdivision area, south of Tudor Road and east of the New Seward Highway.
During design and construction PTS helped AWWU identify challenges associated with temporary water service requirements, project phasing, and work planning to minimize disruptions to water service and local access. Working with the contractor, PTS ensured all residences were notified of any interruption in service and coordinated access to all residences. Due to the depth of excavation and close proximity of this project to Campbell Creek, all excavations required constant dewatering. Maximum efforts were taken to reduce the disturbance to neighboring properties during construction.
